Revelations is the latest installment in the Assassins Creed storyline and is set to be released this November. Gamers who have written off the first games as a monotonous experience with a dull storyline may think again as Ubisoft have already released a demo version online in an effort to win back fans and whip up some hype. So far the demo has silenced many critics and has proven to be a shrewd move on their part as in recent weeks we have seen the game rocket up the pre-order charts.
The storyline is set to provide conclusions for both central characters in the series Ezio and Altair and will again feature modern day bar tender Desmond in the game’s buildup. So far the rumor-mill has suggested that Ezio will travel to Constantinople in search of an extremely powerful relic stashed inside an Assasin fortress by Altaire. The relic holds the secret to end all conflict between Templars and Assassins and Ezio must piece together distant memories in order to discover its location. Fans of the franchise will be happy to know that it’s not all about Ezio as they will also get a chance to play through the destinies of Desmond and Altair.
From an aesthetical point of view this game looks impressive, the always stunning in game graphics have been enhanced, including 3D volumetric fog and amazingly realistic water reflections. The developers have also used the demo version to show off a brand-new ‘subjective camera view’, this allows the viewing angle to shift and move during game play, to provide a film like experience of the action.
When it comes to the good stuff! This time your handy Assassins will have far more weapons to choose from, including a hook blade used to provide more attacking combinations and interestingly enough, the capability to make a wide range of bombs. Varieties include smoke and noise bombs used to create distractions, trip mines for strategically taking out groups of enemies and shrapnel explosives to kill on impact.
With epic graphics, expanding camera angles and a backdrop provided by genuine historical locations Assassins Creed: Revelations looks like a massive improvement and could just be the perfect way to round off a highly successful series of games.
