Commodus takes things in his own hand and kills his father, to acquire the throne of the Rome. Maximus is left in the cold, his family murdered and house burnt down to take revenge. Maximus, with his skills in combat, becomes known as the Gladiator. His fame spreads and he gets invited to the Roman Colosseum to take part in the fight.
